The INFOLAC (Society and Knowledge) portal has been for more than 20 years a virtual communication space whose main objective is to share information from different institutions and players who have wanted to contribute to building the Information Society in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Since 2011, the INFOLAC portal is administered by the University of Colima, with the valuable endorsement of the UNESCO Caribbean Office. This change involves, among other things, managing a new scheme for its structure and collaborators, in addition to considering changes to its architecture of information, design and content.

Objective:

To share information in order to generate knowledge among librarians, documentalists and information managers in the region.

Courses of Action:

To put together a working team comprised of experts from the University of Colima, UNESCO, the "Editorial Committee of the Portal," which will welcome the contributions made by any professional, ICTs researcher in the region.

To develop a topic of interest suggested by the Committee and in collaboration with other colleagues from the region interested in the topics suggested.

To report on achievements, new developments, courses and events offered each month in different countries of the region.

To update information on the current situation and trends of ICTs in Latin America and the Caribbean.

To monitor the actions and experiences of professionals in the region, as well as the content and knowledge products developed by their respective institutions.
